Mommy Dearest and my Darling Duo

Hi All,
So as Drea mentioned Im not new to this mommy gig, however... that doesnt mean I dont have rookie tendencies! I have two gorgeous boys. Aiden is 8 now (insert many many tears for his babyhood past), and Owen has crossed the two month threshold (insert tears because babyhood is a maddening emotional rollercoaster).
I married my amazing husband Chris when Aiden was just 5 years old and now our family is complete with the addition of baby Owen. One thing I have over these other awesome mommies here is age- er, uh, I mean the wisdom of a MUCH older mommy. I am 42 years old. eeek, that sounds HORRIBLE, but I am blessed to have a second go around at this marriage and new mommy deal.  Im healthy and have stayed off wrinkles so I guess age is just a number. - remind me of that fact when Im rubbing elbows with moms half my age when Owen gets into Kindergarten!
My former life as a new mommy to Aiden was completely different than this one. I was left by my husband of 10 years while I was pregnant with him so I raised Aiden completely alone 2 thousand miles from my family. This time around I have a loving husband, an older child, and a mom and dad that pop in the back door several times a week.  It's taking a lot of adjustment but I look forward to this journey with my love at my side. (and of course I look forward to the crazy ride with my girls here and their gorgeous babies!)

A romantic beginning

Last night, as I wrote my introduction, I thought back to how and when my husband and I met.  It is a very amusing story.  I had been out of a difficult relationship a little over a year. I was not looking for a serious relationship.  I went out dancing one night, and everyone else was getting invitations to dance but me.  I was feeling a little down.  I looked up and saw this long haired guy winking at me and blowing me kisses.  I looked around thinking that maybe he was meaning his winks and kisses for someone else.  Nope, I was the lucky one.  He spent the whole night making goo goo eyes at me and when he finally attempted to ask me to dance, someone beat him to the punch.  He sat watching me dance with someone else with pouted lips and very upset.  When he finally got his chance, we talked, we danced,  and he asked me for my number.  We had a whirlwind romance.  after only about a month of knowing each other, he called me one day and said, "I am coming over."  I responded by telling him to come over.  He responded by saying, "if I go over, I am taking all my luggage."  My response was, "ok."  He then preceded to explain that if he came over with all his luggage, he was never leaving.  To this day, he has never left.  Our relationship was not easy and we have struggled quite a bit.  But through it all, our faith never faltered.  Our love grew ever stronger.  We are not perfect, because the ladies and I have had our discussions of how crazy our husbands make us, and how we would like to choke them.  But we never give up.  For me, my family is my all.

hello yall

Hi my name is Felicia.  I am a working mother of 2 beautiful girls.  I am married and my husband and I have been together for 7 years now.  My life has been a roller coaster but I can honestly say that my husband has brought me so much happiness.  My oldest daughter is 9 and my baby is 2 1/2 months old.  I love being a mom but...my new friends and blog Mates have helped me stay sane.

And So It Begins...Meet the Mommies and Cannon's Crew

                               Bitchin’ ‘Bout Babies

My name is Dréa… Most of you know me as Dréa Riley author of erotic romance and shenanigantor extraordinaire.

The last year of my life has been devoted to one thing—the gestation and birth of our first born son, Cannon Wynn.
I said from almost the moment that I knew I was pregnant that I would blog the journey, but between the intense puking that lasted all ten (10) months and the radical switch from complete insomniac to “oh my gawd, should we get her a bed pan and a catheter because she is still asleep?” I was lucky to be able to tweet and fb my journey.

I had the bright idea to write letters to my little bundle and maybe create a book through his first year, I’m still working on that. Along the way a trusted friend said “Dréa, you need to blog about it now so that when the book is ready people already know and are anticipating it.”
That’s sound and smart advice. I’m just now getting around to it, but I was smart enough to know that I have a lot of blogs that I tend to forget about until that one stunning moment when I need them.  So I gathered reinforcements.  Three other moms who are eger to share their journeys.  Three women whom I love and adore who just happened to go through pregnancy at exactly the same time as me (the holidays were a busy time in ’14 apparently).

Felicia
and I grew up in the same small town and have known each other practically our entire lives. She is the mother of Mia(9) and baby Rosita
. I hope Mia doesn’t tell her sister how I once dropped her (Mia) or how she once got stuck between the cushions of my couch.

Kasey
(my little Kasey) and I met at a job we both loved and hated. The entire crew thought they were older than me (I’m passing on baby face genes here). Kasey, like me, is a first time mom.  Baby Isla
is my son’s bff (hey as mom’s we have the power to decide these things …for now).

Nancy

is my cover artist. Well, I mean ok here is the deal…She doesn’t lose her mind when she has to guess what needs to be on the cover of my books. She can practically make them herself without any input from me. Which is basically what she does( I know …I know I suck but Nance gets me, thus she is MY artist *insert big ole grin and then a duck and run*) Her sons are Aiden(7) and Baby Owen
(whom I just know is going to be some sort of artist).

And then there is me and I am Cannon’s mom.

He is already a rock star and he can’t wait for you to meet his crew!

Two of us are first time mothers. Two of us are stay at home wives and artists. Two of us have older children and all of us are slightly crazy and completely consumed with motherhood.

For us, this is the ride of a lifetime. We hope you join us and share our wonderment and shenanigans along the way.
